InnerArmor for Pipe Coating
Oil & Gas downhole tools and production tubulars are exposed to high downhole temperatures and ever-increasing levels of H2S and CO2. Enhanced recovery technologies, such as steam injection, create even more aggressive environments. When these factors are imposed on the more traditional issues of sucker rod wear and turbulent discharge from electric submersible pumps, traditional solutions such as polymeric coatings or boronizing lose their effectiveness.
Sub-One provides state-of-the-art surface treatments specifically designed for pipe production. Applied directly to the internal surfaces, advanced InnerArmor® protection can:
- Increase surface hardness,
- Improve resistance to corrosion,
- Increase resistance to erosion,
- Reduce abrasive wear,
- Enhance fluid flow through the reduction of friction losses,
- Resist fouling.
All of these improvements significantly enhance the performance and cost-efficiency of downhole tubulars.
InnerArmor Pipe and Downhole Tool Applications
Artificial Lift
Applied to the internal surface of production tubulars, InnerArmor creates a very hard surface (1000-2000HV) which resists wear and abrasion from the repeated sliding contact with sucker rod components. The intrinsic hardness of InnerArmor also resists the turbulent flow erosion present at the discharge region of submersible pumps.
Well Stimulation
The high corrosion resistance of InnerArmor extends the life cycle of metal components exposed to high pressure steam, or other gases and liquids, introduced into a well to enhance recovery. Unlike many alternatives, InnerArmor performs well in environments exceeding 300C. InnerArmor technology also resists scale which can lead to reduced flows and increased operational costs.
Corrosion Mitigation
InnerArmor treated surfaces are highly resistant to corrosion, extending the ability of OCTG components to resist H2S and CO2. InnerArmor reduces the need for costly alloy upgrades.
Unique and Cost-efficient Solutions
InnerArmor surface enhancement technology combats the broadest spectrum of problems in OCTG production applications — corrosion, wear, fouling, and erosion — while providing the unique ability to tailor solutions to specific user needs. And that's not all... In overall cost of ownership, InnerArmor-treated tubular products outperform existing coating solutions and/or higher alloy base materials while offering improved operational lifetimes and efficiency.
Improving Your Pipe Performance
Whether you're a production manager, operations manager, completion manager or field supervisor, this is very good news...
Finally, your tubular components can stand up to today's harsh environments — whether it's H2S, CO2, carbonic acid, wax, asphaltenes, steam, erosion from ESP's, rod pump wear and/or wire line wear.
