InnerArmor Coatings
When you order a Sub-One coating system you can apply a broad range of InnerArmor coatings on many different base materials. And the InnerArmor coating specifications can be readily tailored to meet specific application requirements — providing hardness, wear resistance, corrosion control, erosion resistance, temperature resistance, whatever is needed…
For example, in corrosive or erosive environments, thicker films may be preferred. While high-precision, dimension-critical applications may require thinner films. Maximum hardness films can best stand up to high abrasion factors. While somewhat softer films may be chosen when additional ductility or pliability are needed. InnerArmor coatings can address a wide range of needs and applications. Plus, multiple coating layers can be combined to deliver unique and finely-tuned performance characteristics.
InnerArmor coatings may be created out of virtually anything that can be ionized. The technology is capable of depositing carbon-based coatings, metals and oxides. And the coatings may be either conductive or non-conductive. Titanium nitride, tantalum carbide, chromium carbide, silicon carbide, silicon oxi-carbide and diamond-like carbon (DLC) films are but a few examples. Another major advantage: InnerArmor can be applied at very high deposition rates, much higher than external plasma CVD methods, and this can substantially reduce processing costs.

- Custom combinations— To address specific application requirements InnerArmor coatings can be designed to protect against a combination of wear, erosion, and/or corrosion. In addition, InnerArmor can employ near-frictionless diamond-like carbon coatings for improved part performance.

If you are in the market for coating services (rather than InnerArmor coating systems), you may also be interested in the family of hard coatings available from our parent company Duralar Technologies. Duralar can provide coating as a service in small to mid-size production lots for customers as well as R&D coatings for potential coating partners. Duralar coatings cover a broad spectrum of application needs…
- Duralar WearGuard In Duralar WearGuard coatings the metal component provides toughness, the diamond component provides exceptional wear resistance, and the combination delivers extraordinary overall performance. These Duralar coatings can be significantly thicker than conventional coatings, and they contain molecular diamond structures within the matrix to create an exceptionally durable material for numerous applications.
- Duralar ErosionGuard The Duralar ErosionGuard coating is a specially engineered multi-layer composite of metal and molecular diamond material. The coating structure is uniquely designed to maximize resistance to high velocity impact and minimize the effects of erosion.
- Duralar CorrosionGuard Duralar CorrosionGuard coatings provide multiple effective mechanisms for blocking corrosion. It has no porosity or pinholes, plus it is built up from multiple layers. The result is a much stronger barrier against the entry of oxidizing or corrosive agents. In addition, these coatings can be specifically tailored to different corrosive environments.
- Duralar Decotech The Duralar Decotech coating is a hybrid between a decorative coating and a technical performance coating. This hard coating provides a lustrous deep black finish for an aesthetically pleasing effect combined with outstanding protection against scratches and corrosion. It can be an ideal solution for a range of innovative uses in everything from fashion to firearms.
- Duralar Internal The high aspect ratio of this coating (>15:1) works well for coating smaller inside dimensions — for example, in rods and mud pumps for oil & gas, barrels and chokes for firearms, and pistons of all kinds in automotive and other industries.
